NJ Electrical Exam Prep Online Testing

NJES provides a realistic online testing experience intended to help candidates evaluate their readiness before sitting for the official New Jersey licensing examination.

Are You Ready to Test?

Do not use one of your three official examination attempts simply to find out whether you are prepared. NJES online testing is designed to help identify areas that may require additional study before your official PSI examination.

Exam Rules Candidates Should Know

• Candidates receive three examination attempts within a five-year period. After that, a candidate must reapply.
• If you were approved under the grace period and were not required to complete a registered four-year apprenticeship program, you may be required to provide proof of completion of an approved four-year apprenticeship if you must reapply to take the examination.
• If you do not pass one or more portions of the examination, you may be required to wait six months before retesting.
• You must take all three examination portions on your first attempt. This may result in approximately a 9.5-hour testing day in front of a computer.
• Candidates should regularly review the current PSI Candidate Information Bulletin for the most up-to-date examination rules and requirements.

All NJES tests are created using referenced study materials identified in the most current PSI Electrical Contractor Licensure Examination Candidate Information Bulletin.

How NJES Online Exams Work

1. Choose the exam or exams you would like to take:
   1. Electrical Contractors Examination
   2. Business and Law Examination
   3. Alarm Systems Contractor Examination
   4. All of the above
2. Register to take the exam:
   1. Provide your name, email address, and phone number.
   2. Provide the date of your upcoming PSI examination, if scheduled, or the approximate date you intend to take the exam.
3. You will receive confirmation by email and access to your NJES online exam or exams.
4. Your exam access will be available for 30 days.
5. Schedule your own time to complete the exam:
   1. Your exam is available 24/7.
   2. You may pause and return to your exam; however, this is not recommended.
   3. Upon completion, an immediate score will not be provided.
   4. After NJES electronically receives your completed exam, NJES will review your results and send you your score, along with references for questions answered incorrectly.
   5. NJES does not focus on correct answers. NJES focuses on identifying areas needing improvement.
